These systems help members of the public to find their nearest exit point in emergency situations, therefore the BS5839:8 recommends that voice alarm systems are installed in all buildings over 4 storeys high and in all public buildings. We have attended various issues regarding voice alarms, with many showing signs of poor maintenance which has contributed towards the demise of a system- with some being almost 25 years old.
